Meer levende talen onderwijzen en niet zo zeer Esperanto?
In plaats van Esperanto als lingua franca te gebruiken, zouden we misschien beter Engels en/of Frans al vanop jonge leeftijd aanleren. Op die manier heb je een veelheid aan materialen, van levende niet-kunstmatige talen, hopen leerkrachten, aanbod via bestaande boeken, radio en TV. Hoe jonger het kind is, hoe flexibeler de geest omgaat met het aanleren van een taal. Het voorbeeld dat wordt aangehaald in het VK is een schoolvoorbeeld van late beginners - grammaticaregeltjes aanleren, oefenen en laten produceren. Het "kindse" zelf-leren is daarbij totaal verloren gegaan. Muisschien kan Luxemburg een te bestuderen voorbeeld zijn: op school wordt les gegeven in de drie officiële landstalen: Frans, Duits en Luxemburgs. Ze krijgen daar ook nog eens Engels en zijn dus vlot 4-talig wanneer ze afstuderen. België met zijn 3 officiële talen doet het een pak minder goed... Kan op Europees vlak worden besproken hoe verschillende aanpakken werken in verschillende deelstaten en misschien met Europese hulp extra stimuli gegeven worden aan taalonderricht op scholen?
De eerste president van het toen pas ontstane Tsjecho-Slowakije, sprak volgende wijze woorden: zoveel talen men spreekt, zoveel malen men mens is.
Misschien is het wel een stimulans om via de taal tot meer begrip en een betere verstandhouding te komen.
